  • Interns cannot replace regular employees.
  • Interns are not guaranteed a job with the organization upon completion of the internship.
  • Both you and the intern are aware that they are not entitled to wages.
  • Interns must receive training.
  • Interns must get "hands-on" experience with equipment or processes used in your industry.
  • The skills learned on the job must be considered transferable.

For International Students:

  • Able to obtain necessary visas and arrange travel to Chennai, India
  • Able to cover the cost of travel, accommodation and living expenses in Chennai, India
  • Fluent in English
  • Medically insured.

Points to Remember

  • Cost:United Nations interns are not paid. All internships are non-remunerative. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Visa: You will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
  • Travel: You will arrange and finance your travel to the duty station (Chennai).Any official travel out of the duty station is not permissible
  • Medical insurance:You will be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the internship, and must show proof of a valid major global medical insurance coverage.
  • Confidentiality:You must be discreet and keep confidential all unpublished information obtained during the internship, and may not publish any documents based on such information
